We’re here with the not-so-secret, totally delicious recipe for the best dang cheeseburger on this side of the Atlantic. Here’s how to make the perfect cheeseburger in paradise that will even make Jimmy himself say, “Good God almighty which way do I steer?”
I Like Mine With…
You know how it goes. The Margaritaville cheeseburger in paradise favorite includes all the staples — lettuce, tomato, cheese and a pickle. But you have to get it juuuust right to understand why this burger earned its own anthem.
- 1.5 pounds ground beef chuck
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon onion salt
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 6 slices American cheese
- 3 slices Muenster or Pepperjack cheese
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns, toasted with butter
- 1 red onion, sliced into rings
- 1 head of iceberg lettuce
- 2 beefsteak tomatoes, sliced
- Dill pickle spears

Shape the ground chuck into seven-ounce patties. Combine all of the different salts (Jimmy clearly isn’t concerned about high blood pressure) and the pepper in a bowl, then spread on both sides of the patties.
Place the patties on a hot grill and cook halfway through to your desired temperature. Flip then finish off with two cheese slices until they melt.
Now it’s time for the hard part! Call the kiddos in from your villa’s pool to help with this step. Pull your fresh delivered produce from the fridge to assemble your burgers. Put the burger on the bottom bun and top with a slice of lettuce, tomato and some onion.
It just won’t taste like paradise if you leave out the pickle and crispy fries! Stick a toothpick through your ginormous burger and serve it alongside salted fries and a pickle spear.
